Our History, Our Present, Our Future - An Insight Meditation Retreat for People of Color

Retreat Description:

In this special retreat, we both celebrate the 20th anniversary of the People of Color retreat at Spirit Rock, and re-affirm that the diversity within these retreats over the past 20 years embodies the Future of the Dharma. This retreat is open to all self-identified people of color at all levels of meditation experience.

As we have done for the past two decades, we engage in this silent, intensive meditation retreat, in order to see our experience more clearly and with greater insight. We also have the intention to open our hearts more widely to the full spectrum of this one and precious life. We will be practicing sitting and walking meditation as well as cultivating mindfulness in our daily activities. Our retreat will also include guided practice invitations, dharma talks, and movement practice.

On the afternoon of Sunday, July 1st, the retreatants will be invited to join the People of Color non-residential day program in the Community Meditation Center, to practice and celebrate 20 years of Spirit Rock’s dedication to multiculturalism which has provided the support for many diverse communities, including East Bay Meditation Center and diversity of the current Teacher Training. You are encouraged to invite your communities of color to participate in the POC day program and share in the profound space we collectively have created.
